New man joins club’s coaching team from Thursday
- Interim Head Coach Narcís Pèlach forms coaching team
- Paul Clements becomes Interim Assistant Coach
- Álvaro Reina joins the club on a rolling contract
Interim Head Coach Narcís Pèlach will be assisted by two coaches, alongside the rest of the club’s technical staff, at Saturday’s Sky Bet Championship game at Wigan Athletic.
Long serving and popular Head of Goalkeeping Paul Clements will combine his usual duties with a broader Assistant Coach role, starting from the First Team’s training session at the Millers Oils High Performance Complex on Thursday.
They will be joined by a new face, Álvaro Reina, who has signed a rolling contract to join Pèlach’s staff as First Team Coach.
Álvaro, 42, has vast experience in his native Spain as well as in England, Ukraine, and with the Panama national side, most recently working as Performance Manager for fellow Sky Bet Championship side Watford.
“We all know how special Paul has been to this football club for a long period, and his support will be very important to me as we go into this weekend’s game. He’s a man I have been honoured to work alongside and I will be proud to have him alongside me on Saturday.
“Álvaro is a man who I know through the coaching community in Spain. He has a fantastic, hard-earned reputation and it speaks volumes that he jumped on the plane on Wednesday to come and help us. I am grateful for his support.
“They add to our fantastic existing staff here at the club, who will all be so vital. I am already very thankful for everyone’s support over the last 24 hours.”
