We are delighted to share our latest Club mural, celebrating captain Jonathan Hogg reaching a decade of service with Town after joining us back in 2013!

Having paid homage to our Thrice Championship winning side of the 1920s in the summer with a piece outside our Millers Oils High Performance Complex on Leeds Road, the new artwork is in celebration of our modern history, with captain Jonathan Hogg spending 10 years with the Club during one of our most significant eras since those title and cup winning sides.

Once again an entirely local collaboration, we reunited with designer Peter O’Toole and artists from the Northern Mural Co to complete the project. Equipment support was also provided by Club Partners Majestic Site Management, and we would like to extend our thanks to Lee Marsden and his team.

Located on a gable end terraced house on the corner of Leeds Road and Lower Fitzwilliam Street, we are thankful to Terry Sykes of Barry Sykes Enterprises for his co-operation and accommodation, with the property in question within their portfolio. Falling within a route used by supporters on match day on foot, by car and on public transport, the mural expands the footprint of the Club across our town.

Affectionately dubbed ‘The General’ by supporters for his non-stop, tireless and fearless approach to the game, the design paints Hogg proudly in blue and white, with two portraits showing the midfielder side-by-side in his first and tenth seasons as a Terrier in 2013/14 and 2023/24.

Having signed for the Club in the summer of 2013 from Watford, 35-year-old Hogg has made 358 appearances for Town, scoring five goals in that time. A virtual ever-present since his arrival, he was part of the spine of the team that sealed promotion to the Premier League in 2016/17 and secured a second season in the division after securing survival at the end of the 2017/18 campaign.

Hogg was named captain in the summer of 2021 having fulfilled the role previously as part of the squad’s leadership group, going on to lead the team out at a second Sky Bet Championship Play-Off Final in 2022. Currently number 13 in our list of all-time appearances, Hogg is likely to come close to the top 10 by the end of the campaign.

Huddersfield Town CEO Jake Edwards commented:

“Spending a decade with one Club is no small achievement, and we felt that a player of Jonathan’s influence deserved celebrating in a lasting manner having made such a huge contribution over the past 10 years, earning a place within the heart of our supporters and all at Town alike.

“Not just a recognition of service, our captain has been an integral part of Huddersfield Town both on and off the field since his arrival, operating at the centre of all that we do throughout that time, embodying what being a Terrier truly means. A true leader and professional, he helps set the tone for our Club culture across both the First Team and Academy.

“As we showed in the summer with our first mural, increasing our presence across the Town is important to us, and doing so while working alongside brilliant local creatives, Club Partners and businesses gives what we’re trying to achieve a proud and distinctive Huddersfield feel.

“We hope supporters enjoy visiting the mural and we’re delighted to have added a new piece of art en route to our home at the John Smith’s Stadium.”
