TERRIER SQUAD FIRST TEAM SIGNING DAY!

1 August 2023

Players from local junior clubs through our Terrier Squad scheme attend signing event

- Huddersfield Town hold signing event for Terrier Squad members
- Local junior football clubs nominated an attendee each
- Chance for young Terriers to meet First Team players!

Terrier Squad members had the opportunity to visit the Millers Oils High Performance Complex last week, with our First Team players taking part in an exclusive signing event!

Around 30 young Terriers were invited to rub shoulders with the entire squad, with each Terrier Squad affiliated local junior club able to nominate one child each to come along.

Nominations were at the discretion of each individual club, with reasons given ranging from Player of the Year performances, outstanding showings of teamwork, improvement and commitment or excelling in their lives away from the field either at school or in their home lives.

With the sun shining, the youngsters were invited to the decking at the rear of the training ground, with the First Team players signing autographs, taking pictures and chatting along to each child as they got to meet the entire team!

Commenting on the event, Group Ticket Sales Executive Lisa Bottomley said:

“Part of what we wanted to achieve through the Terrier Squad was to give local children these kinds of opportunities to meet their heroes, on top of them being at our games and seeing Town in action!

“With so many of this first cohort of Terrier Squad members from local junior football clubs, the ability to inspire them by showing them the Millers Oils High Performance Complex, ask the players questions and make some amazing memories couldn’t make us happier.

“The feedback we received about how unforgettable the children found the experience, how much it meant to them, how much they’ve been talking about it and how excited it has made them to continue their own journey with the sport as well as supporting Town is just the icing on the cake.

“This scheme has been a huge success so far and we’re loving watching it grow. Being part of the Terrier Squad isn’t just for local football clubs, groups of any kind are welcome – whether you’re in the Brownies, do karate, play rugby league or chess, there’s no preferential treatment.

“We’ve also recently extended the Terrier Squad initiative into local schools too, so we look forward to holding more events like these in the future!”
