The Terriers continue their start to the 2023/24 campaign on Saturday 19 August, when they travel to the Riverside Stadium to take on Middlesbrough in the Sky Bet Championship.

Following our narrow 0-1 loss against Leicester City in our first home game of the season, Town will be looking to secure their first win of 2023/24 campaign when they travel to the Riverside to take on Middlesbrough.

This will be our second meeting with Middlesbrough in just under two weeks, since we welcomed them to the John Smith’s Stadium on Tuesday 8 August in the Carabao Cup – which saw our visitors porgress to the next round despite goals from Kian Harratt and Kyle Hudlin.

THE OPPOSITON

Middlesbrough finished fourth in the Sky Bet Championship last season and just missed out on reaching the Play-Off Final due to a 1-0 aggregate semi-final loss against Coventry City, as they finished on 75 points.

Boro are also yet to win a league game this season, after losing to both Millwall and Coventry City in the opening Sky Bet Championship fixtures.

In October 2022, Michael Carrick was appointed Head Coach of Middlesbrough who were sitting in 21st position with 17 points from 16 games – just one point above relegation zone. Carrick took them from facing a relegation battle to fighting for their place in the Premier League.

Dan Barlaser

Barlaser joined Boro in January 2023 from Rotherham United, where he initially joined on loan from Newcastle United but joined permanently in 2020. Including his loan season and his three-year stint with Rotherham United, the 26-year-old made over 130 appearances and scored 16 goals. So far this season, Barlaser has appeared in both league games and the Carabao Cup game against Town, where he assisted two out of the three goals.
