- Winger to spend 2023/24 season in Sky Bet League Two
- Comments from Huddersfield Town Sporting Director Mark Cartwright

We can confirm that Huddersfield Town winger Connor Mahoney has today joined Gillingham on loan in Sky Bet League Two for the remainder of the 2023/24 season.

Having signed for the Terriers on a two-year contract in the summer of 2022 as a free agent after leaving Millwall, the attacking midfielder has played 11 times for Town.

Mahoney’s last appearance for the Club came earlier this season in the Carabao Cup First Round against Middlesbrough at the John Smith’s Stadium, coming off the bench in the second half.

Gillingham are currently top of Sky Bet League Two having made a perfect start to the season, winning all four of their opening four fixtures in a run that hasn’t seen them concede, with each game finishing 1-0 to the Kent-based side.

Huddersfield Town Sporting Director Mark Cartwright commented:

“We are trying to build a squad with real competition for places, and that area in the final third is somewhere that we’ve already seen additions to this summer.

“Connor is obviously looking to play more football than he has been able to in his time with Town so far, and we’ve worked with him to find a club that will allow him more opportunity than we can.

“Despite that lack of opportunity here, Connor has remained professional and conducted himself admirably, and we wish him the very best in what looks to be a potentially exciting season for Gillingham.”

Good luck with Gillingham, Connor!
