HIGHLIGHTS: PLYMOUTH 3-1 TOWN

6 August 2023

Town lose first game of 2023/24 season on the road at Home Park against Plymouth Argyle

- Plymouth Argyle 3-1 Huddersfield Town
- Michał Helik equaliser in first half stoppage time
- Home side score twice in quick succession in second half

Two quick fire second half goals from home side Plymouth Argyle proved the difference on a day where little separated the sides for the majority of the contest.

Falling behind after a moment of confusion at the back allowed Plymouth to capitalise, Town controlled the large part of the first half, earning their equaliser on the stroke of halftime through central defender Michał Helik who was in the right place to turn home an effort from Brahima Diarra which had cannoned back into play off the post.

Town then had the better chances to go ahead and could’ve been ahead already had two openings through Josh Koroma and Jack Rudoni been taken, with the clearest in the second half created again by Diarra after he robbed the goalkeeper of possession inside his own box. Recovering well enough to make a save, the momentum of the game was very much in the Terriers favour until the home side scored against the run of play.

Going ahead through a Bali Mumba solo effort, Ryan Hardie added a second a few minutes later during a spell that ultimately decided the contest, with Town pushing right until the last to get back into the game.

A disappointing start to the 2023/24 season, full highlights are available to watch below.
