YOUNG B TEAM SHOW FIGHT IN WREXHAM DEFEAT

4 April 2023

A young Huddersfield Town B Team lose out 3-1 on the road at Wrexham

- Wrexham 3-1 Huddersfield Town B
- Young side undone in second half
- B Team play again tomorrow against Leicester City

Facing off against a strong Wrexham reserve side containing several of their first team regulars, a young Town B Team performed admirably before being undone in the second half.

Getting off to a competitive start, it was the hosts who took the lead after 17 minutes, making great use of the ball and looking comfortable in possession.

Undeterred, the Young Terriers fought for a way back into the game and their own pressure told just after the half hour mark, with Hazeem Bakre firing in from range after 31 minutes. A deserved equaliser, Town enjoyed spells of possession and pressure in the first half, but equally had to defend their own box well on occasions, which they did with real commitment.

After the break, Wrexham’s physical advantages showed thanks to their first team experience. Scoring in minute 47 and 85, the home side bookended the half with goals that ultimately put the game beyond Town despite a strong showing from the younger side.

Back in action tomorrow, the B Team will travel to Leicester City to test themselves against the Foxes with a much more familiar and experienced team likely to take the field. A great experience for many of our U19 players this afternoon, this was another step in the right direction for those within the group who will be looking to play B Team football on a more regular basis going forward.
