Speaking at full-time from the Stadium of Light, Town Manager Neil Warnock was pleased with how his side played but admitted they had chances to take more than a point home.

Happy with the energy and response in the second half, Warnock said he couldn’t fault his players, saying:

“We’re disappointed with not coming away with the full points, but it was a cracking match.

“Tony Mowbray has a got a really good young side here and a great crowd, but I thought our fans were excellent too – even though they were put up top there, I think the only way down was with a parachute wasn’t it? They were that far up!

“They cheered us on until the end, and we got a good goal but we had some great opportunities to win the game, but not to be.

“I can’t fault them, like I say at half time I thought we had an extra yard in us and I didn’t think they had, and I thought second half we showed that to be honest.

"We played it a little bit quicker on the front foot and created a lot more chances.”
