PREVIEW: WATFORD (A)

5 April 2023

All you need to know ahead of our next Sky Bet Championship fixture

- Watford vs Huddersfield Town
- Friday 7 April 2023; 3pm kick-off
- Available to watch and listen to on iFollow HTAFC

The Terriers continue their Sky Bet Championship campaign when they travel to Watford on Friday 7 April for our first Easter fixture, in a 3pm kick-off.

In the last meeting, the Terriers suffered a 2-0 loss in our first home game after the World Cup break in December, which we will be looking to rectify when we travel to Vicarage Road.

THE OPPOSITION

Watford currently sit 11th in the Sky Bet Championship after 39 games, just six points behind Blackburn Rovers who sit sixth in the Play-Off places.

The Hornets come into this game off the back of an away 2-0 loss against Luton Town on Saturday 1 April after the international break, Watford have won one, drawn two and lost two of their last five games.

Chris Wilder was appointed manager of Watford at the beginning of March 2023 on a contract until the end of the season after the dismissal of Slaven Bilić.

ONES TO WATCH

Hassane Kamara

The left-sided defender signed a three-and-a-half-year deal with the Hornets in January 2022 from Ligue One side OGC Nice. Kamara arrived at Vicarage Road having achieved close to 100 appearances in the French top tier for Nice and Stade de Reims. Kamara scored his first goal for Watford in the Premier League against Manchester City in April 2022. This season, the Ivory Coast international has made two assists within his 26 appearances.

The 21-year-old signed a five-year contract with the Hornets on 1 January 2020. The forward scored his first Premier League goal for Watford against Manchester United and then went to score two more that season (2021/22) against Newcastle United.

The Senegal international arrived at Watford in the summer of 2019 on a five-year contract. During his debut season at Watford in the Premier League, Sarr scored six times, including a brace against Liverpool in a 3-0 win. The 25-year-old won Watford’s Player of the Season award for the 2020/21 season as he scored 13 goals and created four assists as the Hornets won immediate promotion back to the Premier League from the Sky Bet Championship.
