The first of two trips to South Wales for the Terriers this month, Swansea City await for Town at the Swansea.com Stadium on Saturday 15 April, with the fixture kicking off at 3pm.

Having played out a goalless draw at the John Smith’s Stadium earlier this season, both sides come into the fixture looking to extend a good run of form with the home side currently unbeaten in four, winning three and drawing once, and the Terriers without loss in five, winning three times in that period.

THE OPPOSITION

Swansea City currently sit in 14th place in the Sky Bet Championship after 41 games, 10 points and five places above Town having played the same number of times.

In post since August 2021, Head Coach Russell Martin is nearing the end of his second full season in charge of the Swans having arrived from Milton Keynes Dons, finishing in 15th place in the Sky Bet Championship last season after joining the club on a three-year contract.

ONES TO WATCH

Nathan Wood

Signed from Middlesbrough for an undisclosed fee in the summer of 2022, Wood is a quick central defender and has quickly established himself in South Wales, featuring 37 times in all competitions for the Swans this season. Highly rated at just 20 years old, Wood has represented England at youth level throughout his career, progressing through the U15, U16, U17, U18, U19 and U20 sides before making his debut for the England U21s in March 2023 at Craven Cottage.

Matt Grimes

Having been with Swansea City since 2015, the now 27-year-old Grimes is a staple of the Swans midfield, playing 41 times across all competitions this season. Devonian by birth, Grimes came through the academy at Exeter City before making the move to Wales for a significant fee, going on subsequent loans to Blackburn Rovers, Leeds United and Northampton Town before breaking into the first team of his parent club. A former England U20 and U21 international, Grimes is a tidy midfield with plenty of experience, with well over 300 career games to his name.

Joël Piroe

Dutch forward Piroe moved to South Wales from PSV in 2021 for an undisclosed fee. Still just 23 years old, Piroe has represented the Netherlands at youth level throughout his career, progressing from U15, U16, U18, U19 and U20 levels for his country, building on a youth career that included stints with NEC and Feyenoord before settling with PSV in Eindhoven. Building on a debut season in English football that included 24 goals in 47 appearances in all competitions, Piroe continues to impress in 2022/23 with 17 goals so far in 40 appearances in all competitions – putting him on pace to be their top scorer for the second consecutive season.
