Goalkeeper plays his first 90 minutes since injury

Town goalkeeper Lee Nicholls played a first 90 minutes since his January injury as the B Team defeated Stockport County 3-2 at Edgeley Park on Tuesday evening.
The reigning Player of the Year has been sidelined since New Year’s Day, when he picked up a shoulder injury in our game against Luton Town that required surgery, and continued his recovery by playing the full game in an exciting game.
Nicholls was called into proper action in the 26th minute, tipping away an effort from experienced striker Scott Quigley.
However, it was one of Lee’s junior colleagues, David Adewoju, who put Jon Worthington’s side ahead on the half hour. The centre back netted his second goal in as many games when an attacking corner, initially cleared, was recycled into the Stockport penalty area, with his looping header finding the corner.
The second half started with Town still on the front foot, with winger Myles Bright forcing home custodian Bobby Jones into action, but it was the Hatters who equalised in the 55th minute when Keane Barugh unleashed a superb strike that gave Nicholls no chance.
Nicholls did save from Barugh soon after as he looked for a quickfire second, but the Young Terriers fought back and soon took a two-goal lead, just after Kian Harratt went close with a good run and shot just after the hour.
B Team top scorer Kyle Hudlin netted his latest goal to restore Town’s lead in the 62nd minute, finishing neatly past the goalkeeper’s right side after being played into the area.
Four minutes later it was midfielder Scott High who extended that lead. He was played into the Stockport box in a similar fashion to Hudlin, but on the left, allowing him to open up his body and fire across the goalkeeper.
Nicholls was at his best with 15 minutes left to deny Ollie Crankshaw at close range, but the same player did reduce the arrears soon after through a penalty.
Despite that fightback, Worthington’s men held on for the win, capping a productive night for Nicholls and the rest of the side.
