RHODES AND CAMARA: A REAL TEAM EFFORT

Jordan Rhodes and Etienne Camara speak to HTTV after Cardiff win

- Jordan Rhodes delighted with Sky Bet Championship victory over Cardiff City
- 32-year-old's 94th Town goal was the difference at the John Smith’s Stadium
- Etienne Camara also shared his thoughts after his first league start

Jordan Rhodes expressed his delight at getting on the scoresheet as Huddersfield Town claimed their second Sky Bet Championship victory of the season, beating Cardiff City 1-0.

Rhodes, who was one of three changes made to the starting XI by Assistant Coach Narcis Pelach, beat Cardiff goalkeeper Ryan Allsop with a precise bottom right corner finish in the eighth minute.

That was his 94th goal in Town colours, but the striker remarked that the result was more important:

“I think it wasn’t a case of who got the goal today, it was just all about getting more than Cardiff and the three points and fortunately we’ve done that.

“It was a real team effort and everybody worked their socks off, you could see out there that it wasn’t pretty at times but we managed to get the three points.”

Another of Pèlach's changes saw 19-year-old Etienne Camara make his first Sky Bet Championship start in central midfield, having previously made four appearances from the substitutes bench.

Rhodes was really impressed with the young Frenchman's impact on the game:

“He was brilliant – he showed real maturity and knowhow of the league and its demand. He and David Kasumu were everywhere in the middle; I’m sure the GPS stats will be sky high!”

On that partnership with Kasumu, Etienne himself added:

“It was good, he doesn’t give up and encouraged me. I wanted to fight for the team and really enjoyed the game, although it was tough.”

The Terriers now head into an international break and Rhodes took the time to reflect on what has been a challenge period for the Club:

“It’s been a tough month really with everything that’s gone on with Eleanor, then we had Schohy and off the field reasons with Queen Elizabeth II.

“The league will look a bit rosier now and we’ve now got a good couple of weeks to knuckle down and get ourselves in the best possible position going forwards.”
