Jacob Chapman has today signed for Salford City on loan, joining the Sky Bet League Two until 1 January 2023.

Having joined Town as a free agent in 2019, the Australian signed a new contract in July 2021 which saw him commit his future to Town until the summer of 2024.

Chapman gained his first taste of senior football while on loan with Ossett United during the 2019/20 season and then was a substitute for the Terriers’ First Team in the Sky Bet Championship game against Fulham in 2020 when he returned.

The 21-year-old also spent the first part of the 2021/22 season on loan at Gateshead in the Vanarama National League North, which sae him start 31 games in all competitions in a hugely successful loan spell.

A confident shot-stopper, this is a great chance for Jacob to compete for his place in the starting line-up at a higher level as he looks to improve his game even further.

Commenting on the move, Head of Goalkeeping Paul Clements said:

“This is a great opportunity for Jacob to compete at a high level. We know the positive impact that these loan moves can have on our young players, and we trust Jacob to have a similarly positive experience.

“Nick Bilokapic has already had experience of League Two and now it’s Jacob’s turn, whilst Nick stays here and works with Lee Nicholls on a daily basis.

“At just 21-years-old, Jacob is only going to get better with time. He is the type of character our Academy is set up to create, and this is just the next step in his development.

“We have high hopes for Jacob, Loan Manager David Fox and I will continue to work with him and monitor his progress over the next few months of his loan spell.”

Good luck, Jacob!
