MORE INTERNATIONAL HONOURS FOR TOWN PLAYERS

27 September 2022

A look at what our players have achieved this September international break

- Five Town players earn international honours
- Luke Mbete makes his first England Under-21 appearances
- B Team goalkeeper Gio Bellagambi makes his senior bow for Uganda

With the September 2022 international break coming to an end, we've rounded up all the honours that Town players have achieved over the last fortnight - including two debuts at more senior levels!

Yuta Nakayama – Japan

Japan’s first game against USA saw Yuta start and play the full 90 minutes in the 2-0 win over the USA, which also saw the left back assist the second goal in the 88th minute to double Japan’s lead.

Sorba Thomas – Wales

Sorba earned his sixth full Wales cap as a late substitute in his nation’s narrow defeat at the hands of Poland, making a positive impact in the final minutes.

Luke Mbete – England Under-21s

Our Manchester City loanee made his first two Under-21 appearances as substitutes in two big wins.

The England Under-21s were victorious in their game against Italy’s Under-21s in a 2-0 win. Our defender started the game on the bench and came on in injury time to help the Young Lions keep a clean sheet, before also coming on in a 3-1 win over Germany at Sheffield United’s Bramall Lane.

Giosue Bellagambi – Uganda

Town’s B Team ‘keeper made his senior debut for Uganda on Wednesday 21 September and kept a clean sheet in a 0-0 game against Libya.

This tri-nation tournament has prepared the Ugandan team for when they take on Guinea in the AFCON Qualifiers.

Brodie Spencer – Northern Ireland Under-19s

The B Team defender has featured in all three games over the international break, with the final win over Moldova securing Northern Ireland a place in the Elite stage of the European qualifiers!
