THE SINNOTT 25 WALK 4 POUNDS

26 September 2022

Huddersfield Town launch new fundraising event for the Jordan Sinnott Foundation

- Walk 4 Pounds: The Sinnott 25 on Saturday 8 October 2022
- Event sponsored by The Skinny Food Co.
- Sponsor somebody taking part

The deadline to take part in our latest Walk 4 Pounds event, this time raising funds to support the Jordan Sinnott Foundation in memory of the Huddersfield Town Academy graduate, the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and Huddersfield Town Foundation, has now passed!

Taking place on Saturday 8 October, the full 25-mile route will begin at one of Sinnott’s former schools, St Mary’s School Menston, before passing his junior club Guiseley FC and Bradford City’s home at Valley Parade - which holds special familial significance – before heading back to Huddersfield and the John Smith’s Stadium.

All our walkers will then return to the John Smith's Stadium to complete the route. In anticipation of the event, we spoke to Jordan's mother Mel Tait, who discussed at length the reasons behind the destinations that have been chosen and how much good will come of the funds raised in her son's name.

For those who wouldn’t feel comfortable taking on the full 25-mile route, there will be a shorter 15-mile alternative available starting from Valley Parade.

Sponsored by The Skinny Food Co. the walk is in memory of former Town Academy graduate Jordan Sinnott, who’s untimely passing occurred in tragic circumstances in January 2020. A teammate and close friend of several members of our current First Team, his career also saw him turn out in midfield for Altrincham, Bury, FC Halifax Town, Chesterfield, Alfreton Town and Matlock Town.

Centred around the theme of 25 – which was Jordan’s age when he tragically died – all funds raised will be split between the Jordan Sinnott Foundation, Yorkshire Air Ambulance and Huddersfield Town Foundation.

Huddersfield Town Ambassador Andy Booth commented:

“We’re really proud to be able to arrange an event in Jordan’s memory and look to raise funds for The Jordan Sinnott Foundation in our latest Walk 4 Pounds.

“Jordan’s family have been a part of Huddersfield Town for over 30 years, and I was lucky enough to play with his father Lee who was my captain for a number of years, so grew close to the entire family in that time.

“I can still remember Jordan being born, so on a personal note, being able to help arrange this event in his memory is a real privilege, and it will mean so much to so many people to walk together past a number of significant places from his life.

“This is another special event and will be incredibly meaningful to many people taking part, so please do show us your support as you always do and we can show our collective appreciation of a truly special person.”

Launched by his loved ones after his passing, the Jordan Sinnott Foundation aims to “support vulnerable and under privileged children and young adults to access healthy recreation and ensure that they have the opportunity to fulfil their potential and enjoy the life changing benefits that comes from sport.”

Listing their objectives on their website – which you can visit by CLICKING HERE – the charity highlights:

- The relief of those who are in need, particularly children and young people, by reason of sickness or disability, financial hardship or social and economic circumstances, including by the provision of grants to fund items such as sports equipment, club membership or training facilities for those who cannot afford them.

- To help young people, by means of sport and healthy recreation, to develop their capabilities and fulfil their potential as individuals and members of society.

In due course all participants will be emailed with an information pack that will include timings, the complete route, fundraising information and coach details in due course.

Please note: those taking part in the short walk will need to make their own way to Valley Parade and we are looking for a minimum of £100 to be raised by each participant.

Although the deadline to sign up for the walk has now passed, you can still do your part by sponsoring a participant and help them raise money for this charity by CLICKING HERE!
