UTILITA HELP LOCAL CAUSES THROUGH ‘FOOTBALL REBOOTED’ MOVEMENT

6 October 2022

Club continue to support Utilita Football Rebooted movement

- Huddersfield Town support Utilita Football Rebooted
- Movement aims to re-home ‘pre-played’ football boots
- Comments from Commercial Director Ian Birtley

Since 2021, both Huddersfield Town and the Huddersfield Town Foundation have been supporting Utilita’s Football Rebooted movement on match days.

The mission for Football Rebooted is to rehome one million pairs of ‘pre-played’ football boots and AstroTurf trainers. Football Rebooted will save families money, while saving the planet from 136,000 tonnes of carbon – this is the same as turning the energy off in one million medium sized houses for a week!

As our Principal Shirt Partner we have been supporting Utilita with Football Rebooted since 2021. During this time, our Huddersfield Town Foundation have been collecting boots on matchdays via donation points in the Community Hub. One of the causes which has benefited is the local charity Program UK.

Mustafa Amin from Program UK believes Football Rebooted has made a real difference to participants locally, commenting:

"Program UK helps those from special education to take part and develop in sport, with the aim to provide inclusion and opportunities to play at the highest level. Utilita, Football Rebooted and Huddersfield Town combined have been very supportive, providing boots for those who can't afford them and experiences to watch live football games.

“Due to social and financial barriers these children have been unable to take part in the past but now with everyone’s help they are happier to be included, confident in their own abilities and grateful for all the help and support they have received. So from everyone at Program UK, we'd like to say a huge thank you to everyone involved."

Huddersfield Town’s commercial Director Ian Birtley added:

“Utilita have consistently shown their desire to help our local community. Football Rebooted is a great way for fans to get involved and help make a real difference both locally and nationally. Whilst the boots go to really worthwhile causes, supporting this movement also draws attention to the wider challenges around saving energy and reducing our overall carbon footprint.

“Utilita’s commitment to ensuring all boots donated locally are distributed to local causes is great for us, as it allows us to work closely with the Huddersfield Town Foundation to support those who otherwise might not have access to boots.”

It is free and easy to donate your spare boots and give somebody else the chance to get them back on the pitch! There’s no better time to take part in football’s biggest ever environmental movement CLICK HERE to find out more.

If you have any boots you are able to donate, please do so on match day via the Community Hub at the John Smiths Stadium, or via the donation points at Leeds Road Sports Complex.
