DEDICATED RAINBOW LACES FIXTURE vs MILLWALL

26 October 2022

Town will hold their designated Rainbow Laces game against Millwall

- Town back Stonewall’s Rainbow Laces initiative
- Members of Mark Fotheringham’s squad will wear Rainbow Laces
- Proud Terriers will be on hand to give out badges to supporters

Huddersfield Town supports Stonewall’s Rainbow Laces campaign to make sport everyone’s game!

For nearly a decade, the iconic Rainbow Laces has driven positive change for LGBTQ+ inclusion in sport and fitness with more than one million people having ‘laced up’ since 2013.

Town joins the EFL, other organisations, sports people and more to play their part to kick discrimination out of sport. However, there is still more to do, according to Stonewall research, 43 per cent of LGBTQ+ think public sporting events aren’t welcoming for them.

The campaign kicked off on Wednesday 19 October 2022 and runs through to Monday 31 October 2022, with the Terriers supporting the campaign in their Sky Bet Championship fixture against Millwall on Saturday 29 October.

Football clubs across Britain are joining the Rainbow Laces takeover, including all Premier League clubs, the EFL clubs, the Barclays Women’s Super League, and more.

Premier League and EFL clubs are competing in Rainbow Laces-themed fixtures and all EFL matches will feature a bespoke Rainbow Laces pitch flag and captains will wear Rainbow armbands.

Town’s LGBTQ+ Supporters Group, the Proud Terriers, will also be handing out badges before the game around the outside of the John Smith’s Stadium before our game against Millwall on Saturday 29 October.

Over the course of the season, Stonewall will be sharing articles, case studies and videos from their Sport’s Champions on how to role model inclusion and allyship – follow them on Twitter, TikTok and Instagram.
