Huddersfield Town are back at home in the Sky Bet Championship on Sunday 9 October when they welcome Hull City to the John Smith’s Stadium, noon kick-off.

The Terriers go into the game following their 3-3 draw away at Luton Town on Tuesday 4 October.

Hull City will be looking to build momentum after their 2-1 win at home against Wigan Athletic on Wednesday 5 October.

THE OPPOSITION

This is Hull City’s second season the Sky Bet Championship after dropping to League One for the 2020/21 season and then winning automatic promotion straight away back to the Championship.

Andy Dawson was appointed as interim manager on 30 September 2022, following the dismissal of Shota Arveladze ahead of their Sky Bet Championship game against Luton Town due to a run of four league defeats.

Hull City currently sit 17th in the table after having won four, drawn two, and lost six out of their 12 games of the season so far.

ONES TO WATCH

Lewie Coyle

The defender joined the Tigers in August 2020 from Fleetwood Town on a three-year-deal, with the option of a further 12 months. The right-back came through the ranks at Leeds United, joining at the age of 10 and making his professional debut at 20-years-old. Coyle played a key-role in helping Hull City make an immediate return to the Championship by securing the League One title and he was given the opportunity to captain on multiple occasions. Ahead of the 2022.23 season, the 26-year-old was appointed as captain of his hometown club.

Ozan Tufan

The midfielder, who can also play right back and right winger, arrived in Yorkshire this summer after transferring from Turkish side Fenerbahҫe on a three-year-deal. Hull City isn’t the first English side Tufan has joined as he spent a short loan spell with Watford in the Premier League last season. The Turkish international has made nine appearances for the Tigers so far this season, scoring two right footed shots inside the box in this time.

Óscar Estupiñán

Another summer signing for the Tigers, Estupiñán joined from Portuguese side Vitória de Guimarães on a three-year-deal. The Columbian forward remains the top scorer in the Championship after he scored seven goals in the first month and was awarded the EFL Championship Player of the Month award for August. Out of these seven goals, he scored a hat-trick against Coventry City and will be looking to add to his seven goals when he plays Town.
