Mark Fotheringham says that the team are “really looking forward” to their game against Rotherham United when he spoke to the press on Thursday morning.

Speaking to the media in his press conference, Mark discussed any team news ahead of our Sky Bet Championship against Rotherham United on Saturday afternoon as well as touching on the squad’s training since Hull City last weekend.

“Everybody is in good shape; they’ve recovered well, and we are all raring to go.

“We’re working with the same group from the last game and have brought in some younger players with them stepping up brilliantly.

“We keep working and being relentless in everything we do in training; we want to continue and build on the second half against Hull City where we were much slicker and smoother with the ball.”

Our Head Coach reiterated his determination with the team, along with the training strategy he has implemented, which gives him a wider selection of players to choose from.

“I’m here to win games, I want the fans to be happy to watch us – it’s so important that they’ve got something to come and celebrate and be proud of.

“We’re always learning and developing; I’m always looking to improve and give everything I’ve got so we can win games – there are fantastic people here constantly working hard.

“I’ve got a really good squad, but you’ve got to be competitive every day in training, otherwise somebody else might show me that they want it more.

“We’re always building relationships so that it’s competitive, that’s how training is designed.”

Fotheringham discussed the players and what they bring to the team and what they need to do going forward.

“We’ve got to be solid and build from the foundation that we started last weekend – we’re trying to create a good structure to play from, but we’ll allow players to express themselves in the final third.

“Jordan Rhodes and Danny Ward are going to cause plenty of issues for defenders going forward and I’m really excited to continue working with them to develop their partnership up front.

“Our experienced players are so important, obviously we’ve got Hogg, Rhodes, Ward, Helik and Lees who are vital.

“On top of them, we have Holmes who is a big presence, Nicholls has impressed me so much, and Sorba has been really impressive even though he is so young.”

Finally, Mark looked to the game on Saturday afternoon against Rotherham United.

“Rotherham United have had a lot of changes recently, like Town, but we always show respect to the opponent and expect a tough game.

“We’ve got to keep this level of work up, and we’re really looking forward to the weekend.

“We know that it’s a real test and challenge in this league, but the lads are showing me that they’re up for it, which is pleasing to see.”
