Huddersfield Town Head Coach Mark Fotheringham discussed the capability of his squad and our upcoming Sky Bet Championship game against Millwall in his latest press conference.
Asked about the clean sheet and the previous game against Middlesbrough, Fotheringham said:
“It was important for us to get the clean sheet, especially against Middlesbrough who scored four past Wigan Athletic in their previous game, but we also had our opportunities to take the lead and that’s something we have been working on.
“You can see we’re starting to find consistency in the line-ups and performances, we’ve had more clean sheets in this period since I arrived – which is a start.”
Opening up about the fitness of his squad, Mark updated us on Jonathan Hogg and Tino Anjorin and the work the rest of the squad are putting in to make up for the loss.
“We’re not likely to see Hoggy and Tino any time soon, it’s more long term with all of the players that our currently missing – our medical staff are working really hard with them.
“We’re just trying to monitor them, but this gives others a chance too and credit to the guys who are playing now – they may not have been starters at the beginning of the season, but they are getting points on the board now.”
Our Head Coach then spoke about going forwards and creating chances and what our strikers are bringing to the team.
“We are creating chances well, it’s just that final pass or timing of the run that is missing – the guys have been at it this week in training.
“I think both Ward and Rhodes have been excellent, being a striker isn’t just about goals, even though it’s the most important thing – they put in complete performances for the team.
“When the luck changes, I’m sure they’ll both start scoring with regularity.”
Looking ahead to Millwall, Mark touched on what he will be expecting on Saturday.
“Millwall are an aggressive team, and they are organised.
“It’s also not going to be easy for them to play against us at home, it is a massive advantage for us – when the fans get behind us the players will run through brick walls for them.”
