The John Smith’s Stadium is hosting its first Female Inclusion and Empowerment Conference on Thursday 13 October 2022; from 8.30am until noon.

This free conference and networking event, sponsored by iTrain Legal, is open to everyone and is taking place to promote female inclusion in sport and other industries, through a series of guest speakers.

Taking place at the John Smith’s Stadium on Thursday 13 October 2022, from 8.30 until noon, the conference will provide attendees with lot of information and inspiration around Female Inclusion and Empowerment!

The conference is taking place as part of the Terriers Together scheme as the Club works to promote equality and celebrate diversity in order for everyone to enjoy supporting the team.

Registration for the event closes on Tuesday 11 October, so make sure you register for free if you wish to attend the conference.

While speaking to HR Manager and Club equality lead Zoe Shackleton, she reiterated the importance of attending the event.

“We want to encourage women and young girls to look at non-stereotypical career options, if that is something they are wanting to do.

“You can see from the guest speaker line up, we have the likes of Jacqui Gedman, Kim Leadbeater, and Dorigen Sykes among them who are all senior female leaders in their respective fields, but they can’t have gotten there easily.

“We are hoping that by them sharing some of their stories, it will inspire some other people to pursue those really top-level jobs If they want to.

“It is not gender exclusive in any way because all genders have got a role to play in gender equality.”

Zoe then spoke some more about the Terriers Together scheme and the accomplishments that have already been achieved.

“Terriers Together is an ongoing journey, which is the umbrella term that we use for all of our inclusion work.

“The Inclusion Room is a new addition to the stadium, as it was opened in March this year, and that is a massive thing; to allow people who would not ordinarily come to a match because they have additional needs or they may be in end of life care or they may even be South East Asian Women who need a bit of privacy away from the main stands, it could be anybody that needs that additional support or space to be able to come to a match.

“Introducing the Inclusion Room was massive and the response to it has been amazing.

Zoe finished with an insight into what the attendees could expect from the conference.

“It will be a morning well spent, you will be really inspired and uplifted, and you will hear some stories that you won’t have heard before.”
