TEAM NEWS: TOWN vs SUNDERLAND

2 November 2022

Mark Fotheringham makes four changes to the side

- Huddersfield Town side named to face Sunderland
- Brodie Spencer makes his Sky Bet Championship debut
- Josh Ruffels, Duane Holmes & Jordan Rhodes also start

Huddersfield Town Head Coach Mark Fotheringham has made four changes to the side for tonight’s Sky Bet Championship game against Sunderland; 7.45pm kick-off at the John Smith’s Stadium.

With Ollie Turton ruled out with the ankle injury sustained in Saturday’s win over Millwall, Fotheringham has handed a first Championship start to Northern Ireland international Brodie Spencer! The 18-year-old B Team defender has one previous senior club appearance under his belt in the Carabao Cup back in August.

Unfortunately, Tom Lees is also ruled out after falling unwell overnight, so Josh Ruffels comes into the side for his first start since the away game at Bristol City on 31 August.

Our third switch sees top scorer Jordan Rhodes return to the team for his first start in three games, with Danny Ward dropping to the substitutes’ bench.

Duane Holmes comes into the side as tonight’s final change, replacing the suspended Sorba Thomas.

The final two places in the match day 18 are taken by Connor Mahoney and Luke Mbete, who are among the substitutes this evening.

With Jonathan Hogg and Tom Lees not playing tonight, goalkeeper Lee Nicholls captains the side.

Michał Helik makes the 250th appearance of his club career in all competitions this evening!

Fotheringham is without Ollie Turton (ankle), Matty Pearson (foot), Jonathan Hogg (calf), Sorba Thomas (suspended), Tino Anjorin (illness), Pat Jones (hamstring), Tyreece Simpson (knee), and Tom Lees (illness).
