18 November 2022

- Full coverage across all official HTAFC Club channels

With the opportunity to give Head Coach Mark Fotheringham an extended period with the First Team squad during the 2022 FIFA World Cup break, the team will be heading for a week-long training camp in Marbella.

Following a period of rest and recuperation, the squad will undergo baseline testing and fitness work at the Millers Oils High Performance Complex before setting off together for a week long training camp at the Marbella Football Centre from Sunday 27 November to Sunday 4 December.

The first opportunity Head Coach Mark Fotheringham will have with his squad to spend uninterrupted time together on the training pitch since arriving after the 2022/23 Sky Bet Championship season had already gotten under way, going away as a group will allow the coaches and squad to fully concentrate on the work at hand, hold multiple sessions a day and ensure that fitness levels remains as high as possible ahead of the season resuming in December.

Not the first time the Club has travelled to Marbella on a camp, we previously visited the same facilities in both 2017 and 2018, with the Football Centre purpose built to ensure that the coaches, players and performance staff have all of the equipment they need to use the time there as productively as possible.

Commenting on the training camp, Head Coach Mark Fotheringham said:

“Having given the players some time away to rest whilst continuing to monitor their physical activity, I’m really looking forward to getting the entire group together to head out on this training camp. The lads will be put through their paces at the Millers Oils Performance Complex before we set off, and that hard work will continue in Marbella.

“The change of scenery and complete focus on the work at hand means that we can really build on what we’ve been trying to do in our work so far, which will be so valuable after not having that time in pre-season together. With the hope of reintegrating some of the players who’ve been missing injured, it will also be the first chance I have to work with some our lads since I arrived.

“With such a full fixture list since arriving, we can now begin to work on ideas that aren’t possible in just one or two days, and have that crucial time together both on and off the pitch to continue building this team spirit of ours and come back for the remainder of the season even better for the experience.”

Full coverage of our week long training camp will be published across htafc.com and all of our official Club social media channels, giving supporters complete access to everything going on in camp!
