The Young Terriers have now won all three of their Premier League Cup fixtures in the group stage this season after beating West Brom 1-0 at the John Smith’s Stadium on Friday evening.

Despite the first half finishing 0-0, Town pushed through in the second half to take the lead through the brilliant strike of Loick Ayina and worked hard to secure their win against last season’s Premier League Cup winners.

Although both sides had their fair share of excitement in the first half with Reyes Cleary shooting with every chance he had and Brahima Diarra’s fancy footwork in the midfield. This was also paired with the brilliant chance from Connor Shanks to take the lead after he hit the woodwork from the centre of the box and the hit the rebound just over the bar.

The second half was just as entertaining as the first, with Town finding their winner in the 57th minute after Ayina had won the ball halfway into the attacking and played a one-two with Diarra before taking the ball past two defenders and curled it past the West Brom ‘keeper.

Brilliant saves from Nicholas Bilokapic and great perseverance from the youngsters means we have won all three games of the Premier League Cup in the group stage so far this season!
