Town fans can now watch back the action from last night’s home loss to Sunderland, with two second half goes giving the visitors all three points.
Despite starting the better side and impressing throughout the first half, the Terriers weren’t able to make their chances count and went into half-time level.
Playing good football in terrible conditions with the wind and rain driving down onto the pitch, the half ended on a sombre note as defender Yuta Nakayama was stretchered off the field following a collision on the far side of the field.
Sunderland were much improved after the break but the match was still finely balanced, with neither side really taking the initiative. Strong work from Etienne Camara appeared to give Duane Holmes the perfect opportunity to open the scoring, but his effort was saved well by the onrushing goalkeeper which allowed Sunderland to counter and tip the balance in their favour through Alex Pritchard.
Making several attacking substitutions and another enforced with young Ben Jackson also stretchered from the field, Town threw numbers forward but couldn’t break down a resolute Sunderland defence.
Caught out late on with men committed forward to attack, Sunderland broke at pace and scored a second right at the death.
