Despite creating a host of opportunities, Town were unable to draw level at Ewood Park after falling behind in the first half to a Ben Brereton-Diaz strike on the break.
The first half was finely balanced until the opener, with Blackburn breaking quickly and finding their top scorer in the final third who was composed enough to cut inside and shoot past a helpless Lee Nicholls in the Town goal.
A spirited performance, Town continued to come forward throughout with a penalty shout for Sorba Thomas waved away and a double chance for Danny Ward and Jack Rudoni going to waste. Doing everything they could but score, it was another performance undone by the final result for the Terriers.
Having been booked in the second half midfielder David Kasumu will now miss our midweek trip to Loftus Road to face Queens Park Rangers as it was his fifth caution of the season so far. Despite welcoming Sorba Thomas back from suspension today, that will leave Town without another of their key men before the upcoming World Cup break.
The game ended with Town putting Blackburn under huge pressure, but without that final ball or telling strike coming, the fixture will go down as a missed opportunity as the Terriers continue to look to put points on the board.
