- Comments from Academy Coach George Danaher
Huddersfield Town’s Young Terriers were victorious in their final EFL Youth Alliance League game of the season on Wednesday evening.
Town’s youngsters finished their Youth Alliance League campaign with an away win at Mansfield Town’s Radford & Hyman Academy. The 2-1 victory saw goals from centre back Archie Sheppard and in form frontman Connor Falls.
Commenting on the match, Academy Coach George Danaher was very pleased to see his side finish the 2021/22 campaign on a high.
“To finish on a high with the lads and get a win was really something that we set out to do and the lads did that really well.
“We had success both in and out of possession with our reactive pressure, recovery runs and then when we had the ball.
“Our ability to receive on the back foot and then drive past the opponents was very good and the lads ability to run past people with and without the ball was evident in the game.
“In terms of the goals, it was great to see Archie back on the pitch, back in the goals and back out there performing to the level he did.
“Fallsy did what Fallsy does best, coasting into the box and getting his goal.
“Finishing on a high was really important for the lads and they can take confidence in that because they’ve come a long way as individuals and as a team.
“The off-season programme is a chance for the lads to rest and reconnect with their families.
“Plans have been sent out for the players to follow and make sure they’re ready to come back in and hit the ground running.”
