Huddersfield Town awarded EFL’s Family Excellence Status

- EFL recognises Huddersfield Town’s match day experience
- Town’s social media content given particular praise
- Record number of EFL teams awarded status

Huddersfield Town have achieved the EFL’s Family Excellence Status for the 2021/22 season!

The Terriers are one of 65 EFL clubs who have been recognised for their continuous improvement and best practice in family engagement across the League.

Now in its 14th year, the Family Excellence scheme sees each EFL club receive two ‘mystery family’ visits throughout the season, which result in a report which determines whether the club achieves the Family Excellence status.

Up until the 2020/21 season, Huddersfield Town have been awarded the Family Excellence Award for every year the Club has been in the EFL; one of a small number of clubs to regularly achieve the award since its inception. Therefore, we are incredibly pleased to have received Family Excellence Status in our first season back with fans.

Given the particularly challenging set of circumstances faced during the Covid-19 pandemic, Huddersfield Town were recognised for working hard to ensure that supporters have been welcomed back safely this season, while exploring new and innovative ways to continue to boost the match day experience for youngsters and families.

Town also received particular praise for their match day social media content, coming first among the 65 clubs for their content and engagement.

EFL Chief Executive Trevor Birch commented:

“I would like to congratulate the record number of Clubs that have achieved Family Excellence status this season.

“Ensuring a memorable match day experience is vital to attract the next generation of young fans, so it’s great to see so many clubs excelling in this area.

“Fans returning to EFL clubs in their millions this season has been fantastic to see and club staff should be commended for going the extra mile to make match days engaging for families attending live games.”
