REPORT: WALSALL 1-0 TOWN U19s

3 May 2022

Defeat for experimental Town side in final Central League game

- Huddersfield Town Under-19s defeated at Walsall
- Late home goal from a corner is the only one of the game
- Young Terriers side included five trialists

A young Huddersfield Town Under-19 side, featuring five trialists, were defeated by a single goal on the final day of the 2021/22 Central League season at Walsall on Tuesday afternoon.

The Young Terriers side matched their opponents for the majority of the game, but it was the Saddlers who scored the only goal with 10 minutes left – a header from their own trialist from a Ronan Maher corner.

The Town side included four starting trialists – teenagers Josh Mazfari, defender Joe Littlewood and wingers Jireh Oyebamiji and Kyrece Lisbie – as well as Under-16 right back Aaron Ojungu.

Town performed well in the first half without being able to create any clear-cut chance, and the second half followed a similar pattern until the only goal was scored.

The final game of the season for Town’s Academy takes place on Wednesday, when the Under-17s travel to Mansfield Town.
