P4P 10.5 DAY ONE REVIEW!

Cyclists complete challenging route from John Smith’s Stadium to Harrogate

- Pedal For Pounds 10.5 day one completed
- Huddersfield Town annual charity event returns in 2022
- Donations still being accepted via JustGiving (here)

140 amazing Pedal For Pounds participants have completed day one of our 2022 event, pushing themselves from the John Smith’s Stadium to Harrogate!

Having met at Legend’s Bar and Café from around 7am to check in and receive a welcoming message and safety brief from Club Ambassador Andy Booth alongside Dean Hoyle, they did a lap of our home stadium before hitting the road.

A journey that took them from Huddersfield to Keighley, Keighley to Burnsall, Burnsall to Middleham and finally Middleham to Harrogate, they still have another daunting home leg to face tomorrow from Harrogate back to the John Smith’s Stadium in order to make it back in time for our 12.30pm kick-off against Bristol City!

The route was far from easy, with a particular challenge Park Rash in Kettlewell, with the route through an extremely steep hill climb through the North Yorkshire dales. Difficult to manoeuvre in a car, never mind a bicycle, the Pedal For Pounds participants each showed their Terrier Spirit in overcoming it and making their way to the summit before coming down the other side.

Clearing well over 60 miles on day one, over 30 miles remain tomorrow, underling just how arduous a task has been undertaken.

All done for the benefit of four great local charities, all the proceeds from Pedal For Pounds 10.5 will go toward the Yorkshire Air Ambulance, Huddersfield Town Foundation, The Kirkwood and Platform 1 – providing valuable funds to institutions who have struggled over the course of the pandemic.

Those who are able to remain encouraged to donate if possible – CLICK HERE – with the Club looking to add to the total of £2.2 million that has been raised by Pedal For Pounds events over the years.

Supported by a host of incredible sponsors, we extend our thanks to Made By Cooper, Thornton and Ross, Brewin Dolphin, Henderson Property, Core, First Bus, Sentio, Corpad, Deliveree, AMT, Recycling Solutions, Lottie Shaws, Shepley Spring, The Skinny Food Co and Magic Rock, without whom the smooth running of our event wouldn’t be possible.

Town fans attending our final regular season home match of the 2021/22 campaign are reminded that our Pedal For Pounds riders will be taking their lap of honour around the John Smith’s Stadium prior to kick-off, so please be in your seats in good time to give them all the reception they deserve!

Congratulations again to all of our amazing participants on completing day one, with a full review pending next week once the ride has been completed.
