Huddersfield Town Head Coach Carlos Corberán to manage his 100th competitive game for the Club

- Head Coach joined Club in July 2020
- Carlos to reach milestone vs Luton Town on Friday

Town Head Coach Carlos Corberán is set to take charge of his 100th game for the Club on Friday 13 May against Luton Town in the first leg of our Sky Bet Championship Play-Off Semi-Final.

Having joined the Club on July 23 2020, the 38-year-old Spaniard was appointed with Town looking to develop a new playing identity that was tactically progressive and reflective of our values.

Retaining our Sky Bet Championship status in his first season, Town showed signs of the style of play changing with standout results away at Millwall, where we won 0-3, and 4-1 at home to then promotion chasing Swansea City.

Awarded a new contract until 2024 midway through his first season in charge alongside assistant coaches Jorge Alarcón and Narcís Pèlach, December 2020 also saw Assistant Coach Danny Schofield formalise his position within the First Team staff, having previously lead the Club’s B Team.

With the majority of our transfer business concluded early in the 2021 summer transfer window, Carlos and his staff we able to prepare for this season in the complete fashion that they desired – which showed as the side won three, drew one and lost just once in the opening five games of the campaign.

Still developing their identity, getting used to fresh tactical ideas and gelling as a squad, the next 15 matches saw Town win five, draw three and lose seven, leaving the Club in 8th position entering the November 2021 international break.

Remarkably, the side then went undefeated from 4 December 2021 until 16 March 2022, winning nine and drawing eight times across 17 Sky Bet Championship fixtures, all whilst maintaining a run to the Fifth Round of the Emirates FA Cup with victories over Premier League side Burnley away and Barnsley at home.

A run punctuated by away wins against both Nottingham Forest and Fulham – with Carlos named the Sky Bet Championship Manager of the Month for February within that run - defeats to Millwall away and AFC Bournemouth at home before the March 2022 international break did little to dent the renewed sense of Terrier Spirit that had been forged across the Club.

With seven games remaining of the regular season, Town went on another run, winning six times and drawing just once as Carlos’ side propelled themselves to a third placed Sky Bet Championship finish, setting up the Play-Off Semi-Final against sixth placed Luton Town.

Appointed with a remit of creating a playing identity and pathway from our Academy to First Team, those parameters have been matched and exceeded, with this season amongst our finest at this level for decades, and with the biggest fixtures of the season still to come.

Congratulations to Carlos and his coaching staff on reaching 100 games at the Club, with this just the 19th time a Town Head Coach has reached a century of fixtures in charge across our history.

Tickets are still available for Town’s final home game of the 2021/22 season as we face Luton Town in the second leg of our Sky Bet Championship Play-Off Semi-Final on Monday 16 May at 7.45pm. CLICK HERE to guarantee your place at the John Smith’s Stadium!
