- Jon Worthington reviews B Team loss against Stoke City
- B Team Coach highlighted second half improvement
- Worthy disappointed with result but happy with performance
Jon Worthington was disappointed with the result of the Premier League Cup game against Stoke City as Town B lost 3-1.
Town fell behind by three goals before half time, and despite a goal from Micah Obiero they were unable to get the comeback they wanted.
Worthy was quick to praise his side after this result:
“We have got a very talented group and I think the performance, especially in the second half, showed that.
“Football is a harsh game, it’s pretty ruthless and you’ve got to be clinical and capitalise on all the moments.
“And it’s about scoring goals.”
Despite the improvement from the youngsters in the second half, Worthy spoke about the test they overcame to go back out with confidence after half time.
“It was a massive character test in terms of coming out when they were 3-0 down and I think that was a massive positive and I said that to them after the game.
“They showed some real confidence to get on the ball in that second period.”
Worthy also reflected on the competition as a whole and how much his side has achieved.
“I think all the lads who have played in this competition have done really well, there are a lot of talented players who have played in some of the earlier games as well as the players that we have now.
“I think that is the only positive, disappointed with the result but in the second half we definitely showed what talent we have in the squad.”
