HTAFC Women play West Brom Women in the league
- Town Women host West Midlands rivals
- Return to league action on Sunday 27 March; 2pm kick-off
- Fans can watch at the Stafflex Arena
Huddersfield Town Women return to league action on Sunday 27 March 2022, when they welcome West Brom Women to the Stafflex Arena for a 2pm kick-off.
After a disappointing away match to Derby County, where Town Women suffered their first league defeat since mid-January, the Terriers will be looking to bounce back on Sunday.
Top goal scorer Laura Elford also returned from injury last week, and will be able to bolster Town Women’s attack.
West Bromwich Albion have lost their last four league matches. The Baggies are eighth in the league, and nine points behind Town Women.
Town Women will be looking to get back to winning ways in the league. Sitting in fifth place with 13 points between them and the top spot, Huddersfield Town Women will want to put right what went wrong against Derby.
Last time the two sides met was at the Central Ground in Sutton Coldfield. The Terriers couldn't have got off to a better start, with Laura Elford netting within 15 seconds of the kick-off. The opposition equalised just after the quarter hour mark, but Town struck again in the 40th minute to regain the lead.
The second half saw the Terriers pile on the pressure, and it eventually paid off when Serena Fletcher put the game beyond doubt. Town Women clamed all three points, and will be looking for a repeat on Sunday.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Georgia Marshall was sterling in defence last time out against our opponents.
Marshall also had a solid game defensively last weekend against Doncaster Belles. The defender will be out to repeat the performance she put in last week, and also against West Brom away from home.
Keep an eye out for Falone Sumaili too. The striker made her First Team debut last and will be itching to get in on the action.
Assistant Manager Kamran discussed the match.
“We're at the business end of the season now. Games come thick and fast, so it's always a quick turnaround.
“The group have come together and grown week by week, game by game. There is always a cautious approach to players welfare as we want everyone firing on all cylinders consistently.
“West Brom is another challenge for us, which we cannot underestimate. We need to be at our best to come out of Sunday with all three points.”
