Town fell to their first defeat of 2022 away from home at the Den against an in form Millwall side.
Having started incredibly brightly, Town couldn’t find a way through the Millwall defence despite testing it on a regular basis throughout the opening 10 minutes.
Working their way back into the contest, Millwall nipped ahead through match winner Benik Afobe, who finished nicely after the ball fell to him inside the area with Lee Nicholls unsighted and unable to get a full glove to it.
Town pushed for the remainder of the half, but Millwall were able to drop and break to manage the game, giving the Terriers a really difficult block to work through in the final third.
Scoring again through Afobe after the break – this time a brilliant finish Nicholls could do nothing about – Town were unable to produce anything of real note in the final third with Millwall’s resolute defence doing extremely well to keep them at an arm’s length.
With not long to wait to put the result right, Town will look to return to winning ways against AFC Bournemouth on Saturday 19 March, kicking off at 3pm at the John Smith’s Stadium.
