Duane Holmes says Huddersfield Town’s 2-0 defeat to Millwall is a tough result to take.

It was a disappointing evening for the Terriers, as they were left with a mountain they were unable to climb.

Speaking to HTTV after the game, Holmes gave his thoughts on the game.

“I thought we started really well, we probably should have scored early on.

“I thought they attacked really well in the first half at times which causes a couple of problems.

“Their first goal came from our sloppy play and then they just sit in and wait to counter, which is what they did.”

The defeat saw the end of Town’s historical 17 unbeaten run, which the midfielder says hurts more because the team know that can do better.

“The run that we were on is incredible.

“The loss hurts because I feel like we can play a lot better and we had chances to go in front and get back in the game, but we didn’t take them.

“We can take encouragement from the fact we had a couple of chances, even though we didn’t play well.

“Like I said, losing hurts.”

Town are back in action on Saturday 19 March 2022 as they welcome AFC Bournemouth to the John Smith’s Stadium. Duane commented on his side’s need to refocus and go again.

“We know where we are in the league and we know that Saturday’s another big game. They’re all big games now.

“We’ve got to rest, recover, and get our heads down and go again.”
