- Head Coach Carlos Corberán shares thoughts ahead of game
Huddersfield Town Head Coach Carlos Corberán shared his thoughts on our Emirates FA Cup Fifth Round tie away at the City Ground against Nottingham Forest in his latest press conference.
Having seen the draw for the Sixth Round of the Emirates FA Cup already take place with the winner of Town’s trip to Forest earning themselves a home tie against Liverpool, Carlos was asked if the opportunity to play a big Premier League club added an extra motivation.
“We’re only thinking about the opponent we’re going to face, because we know how difficult this game is going to be.
“We play away, and we play a strong opponent that are going to demand from us the best possible performance to stay in the Cup, which is the target that we’re going to have on Monday.”
With such a quick turnaround between fixtures and Town doing so well in the Sky Bet Championship, the Head Coach was immediately asked about which competition was taking priority.
“Our biggest priority is to be competitive every time that we’re on the pitch, so now we need to take our mind away from the league.
“We’re playing a Cup game, and like we always have in this competition we’re going to play with the highest level of respect.
“We’re going to try and stay in the Cup and continue playing in the Cup because this is the target we need to have every time we’re on the football pitch.
“It’s an easy answer, because whenever we’re playing a football game, we need to give our best to win the game.”
Quizzed on the type of side he would be selecting and how much rotation we may see within the Town side against Nottingham Forest with two important Sky Bet Championship fixtures either side of the tie, Corberán insisted that - as they always do - the squad would be assessed and the most competitive combination of players available would be selected.
“It’s important that when we arrive to the game, we have players that have enough to impact the game.
“Every time we analyse which players have arrived to the game in a better condition, so this is exactly what we’re going to do before we play Nottingham Forest, and it’s the same thing we’ll do before we play West Bromwich Albion.
"We will see from our group of players who is going to arrive in the best condition to be a competitive team.”
