B Team midfielder signs deal running until 2026

- Josh Austerfield signs a new contract at Huddersfield Town
- 20-year-old agrees a deal running until June 2026
- Comments from Head of Football Operations Leigh Bromby

Huddersfield Town B Team midfielder Josh Austerfield has signed a new long-term contract with the Club!

The 20-year-old has put pen-to-paper on a contract that runs until the summer of 2026.

Austerfield is one of Town’s longest-serving scholars, having joined the Academy at Under-8 level from junior club Drighlington.

The youngster made his senior Town debut as a substitute in the Carabao Cup tie against Rochdale in September 2020, and made his first start in the Emirates FA Cup game at home to Plymouth Argyle in January 2021.

The central midfielder, who has largely played in the middle of a back three for the B Team this season, spent the latter half of the season on loan with Sky Bet League Two side Harrogate Town.

Huddersfield Town’s Head of Football Operations, Leigh Bromby, commented:

“We’re delighted that Josh has committed his future to Town for another four years - signing a new long-term contract is a fitting end to a successful season for him.

“His loan to Harrogate was a great challenge for him at this stage of his career; one he passed with flying colours. He had to work very hard to break into their team, and he did everything he possibly could to do so and be ready to succeed when he did.

“He came back to Canalside when he could and took full advantage of our staff and facilities to be the best player he could be – that set him up for success and says a lot about the type of character he is.

“He’s a great example to other B Team and Academy players of the possibilities available when you apply yourself.

“We’re all excited to continue working with Josh and helping aid him with his next step.”
