BILOKAPIC MAKES ASIA CUP DEBUT FOR AUSTRALIA U23

20 June 2022

Huddersfield Town B Team goalkeeper starts in Third Place Play-Off

- Nicholas Bilokapic makes Asia Cup debut for Australia U23
- Another milestone Huddersfield Town B Team goalkeeper
- Jacob Chapman unused substitute in same game in Asia Cup

Capping off an excellent 2021/22 season, Town B Team goalkeeper Nicholas Bilokapic made his debut in the Asia Cup for the Australian U23s in his first competitive appearance at that level.

Having been beaten in their semi-final by eventual champions Saudi Arabia, the Olyroos’ faced a strong Japan side in the Third Place Play-Off, finishing the game on the wrong end of a 3-0 final score having made several changes to their team.

Despite the result, the appearance caps another milestone for young ‘keeper Bilokapic, who committed his long-term future to the Club earlier this season, signing until at least 2026. Still a teenager at 19-years-old, the tall Aussie stopper made his full Town senior debut in the Emirates FA Cup against Burnley in January 2022 before joining Hartlepool United on loan.

Making his debut and only other appearance for the Australian U23s back in March 2022 against the Netherlands in a friendly, it proved to be an action packed 24 hours for Bilokapic, with his full Football League debut coming just a day later against Northampton Town.

Not the only Town representative in the Australian U23s squad, fellow B Team ‘keeper Jacob Champman was also called-up, but remained an unused substitute throughout the competition.
