- Yuta: “I cannot wait to see the supporters”
Yuta Nakayama cannot wait to get going at Huddersfield Town – and he’s counting down the days until he sees the fans!
The 25-year-old has put pen-to-paper on a contract running until 2024 earlier today and joined HTTV at the Millers Oils High Performance Complex to give his views on the move.
“I’m really happy to sign the contract; really excited,” the former PEC Zwolle player explained.
“This (the Sky Bet Championship) is a big challenge for me. When I went to the Netherlands, that was also a big step and I wanted to improve myself. Now, this is the new chapter. I want to improve myself and help the team.
“It’s a big challenge, because this league is a physical one. I’ll need to be stronger! I want to get better every single game. I’m really excited!”
Nakayama, who earned seven of his 16 Japan caps in 2022 to help the side qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, believes he can help the Terriers start attacks from the back from either centre back or left back.
“My strength is in the build-up from the bottom of the team. I can show that in every game. That’s my strength.”
Although there’s still a lot of hard work to be put in as pre-season continues, Yuta admits that he already has an eye on the season home opener against Burnley on 29 July!
“I’m ready to play that game! I’m really excited to play, and I cannot wait to see the supporters.”
