Centre back on pre-season opener against Morecambe

Huddersfield Town centre back Matty Pearson was pleased to get be back in action as he played 45 minutes in the Terriers’ 3-1 opening pre-season friendly win at the Millers Oils High Performance Complex on Tuesday afternoon.
B Team utility man Ben Jackson scored a first half brace playing in a wide right position before Jordan Rhodes scored a typical late finish to give the side the victory.
Speaking to htafc.com, Pearson was quick to comment on how he was feeling post-match.
“We’ve had a good couple of weeks back and it’s nice to get back out there playing football.
“I’ve missed it especially with being injured.
“It’s nice to get on the shirt and get back playing.”
The centre back went on to highlight that most importantly for Danny Schofield’s players, everyone walked away from the pitch unscathed.
“The squad’s building nicely, we’ve got plenty of players.
“Looking out their today, a few of the lads are looking sharp and that’s what we want.”
The game featured several B Team players, including Brahima Diarra, Brodie Spencer, and Danny Grant. Some new faces for fans to get used to, Pearson was impressed with what he saw.
“We’ve got some great young players.
“Danny Grant – I think he played well today.
“In the first half there were a few young lads that did well as well.
“We’ve got a great group of lads and the right mix of senior and youth.”
Reflecting on the result, the 28-year-old said that although he’s pleased with the win, he’s always looking for perfection.
“I’m more concerned about conceding one goal!
“We’ll have a look and review and see what we can do better.”
