Huddersfield Town fall to defeat on opening day of Sky Bet Championship season

Town were edged out at home on the opening day of the 2022/23 Sky Bet Championship season as a fine first half performance earned Burnley all three points.
Going ahead through Ian Maatsen in minute 18, the away side were much stronger in the first half and showed their dominance throughout, using the ball well in central areas and forcing Town to defend for long periods.
Changing things tactically at half-time, Town came out a different side second half and more than match the former Premier League side, despite the lack of clear-cut attacking chances.
New faces were a real positive for the Terriers, with Tino Anjorin, Jack Rudoni, David Kasumu and Yuta Nakayama all making their first competitive experience, with the young attacking players catching the eye particularly.
Town have a chance to put the result behind them in a week travelling as we travel to St Andrew’s to face Birmingham City in our first away day of the 2022/23 season.
