Goalkeeper joins the Town Academy ranks

- Comments from Head of Goalkeeping Paul Clements
Goalkeeper Josh Mazfari has joined Town’s Under-19s after signing his contract at the Millers Oils High Performance Complex!
The 17-year-old, who previously played for Thornaby, has appeared for Town’s Academy as a trialist on several occasions already, and has now signed a professional contract running until 30 June 2023, with the club having the option on a further season.
Josh and his teammates will feature in a bespoke games programme consisting of EFL fixtures, supplemented by matches and tournaments arranged by the Club.
Huddersfield Town Head of Goalkeeping, Paul Clements, commented:
“As a Club, we need a certain number of goalkeepers in the building to be able to put on good sessions for everyone within the Academy and First Team.
“The difficult part of that is finding the right ‘keepers who can come in and do that, and potentially develop into something more.
“Josh has never been in an Academy system before, but he’s played a lot of mens football at a young age – I’ve been to see him live a couple of times – and he represented England in the English Schools’ Football Association.
“It’s exciting to see whether he can adapt to the demands of professional football, and then if he can, if he can take that opportunity and make the most out of his talent.”
