How will David Kasumu fit in at Huddersfield Town? MK Citizen Sports Editor Toby Lock gave the lowdown on the midfielder!

What can Huddersfield Town fans expect from David Kasumu?

David is terrific. He’s a midfield general where, in the way the game is going nowadays, you don’t see that sort of aggression and that sort of viciousness that you sometimes need in midfield. David’s got pace, he’s got power, and he’s just an all-round midfielder. He’s got a decent little shot on him, we didn’t get to see an awful lot of it in the last couple of years when he started to play in a deeper role, but he’s got a fierce strike on him as well, so he’s got an awful lot about him.

In terms of his character, what’s he like?

He seems to be a friend of everybody, everybody liked him. He was a well-rounded character, knew his role in the squad, but knew what his role in the dressing room as well. Coming through the Academy as he did, he took a lot of the younger lads under his wing, granted he’s only 22. When some of the younger kids were coming through he knew what it was like to be that new kid in the dressing room and knew to put his arm around them and help settle them in. He’s very much an approachable character and was happy to take those younger lads under his wing and show maturity beyond his years.

What do you think the Sky Bet Championship will be able to provide for him?

I think the Championship is the next logical step for his career progression. In the Championship I think you’re afforded a little more, and surrounding yourself with the next calibre and the next quality step up of players is only going to make a player like David improve. He’s only 22, so he’s still got plenty of years ahead of him and plenty to learn. He’ll get plenty out of the Championship.

What is he like connecting with fans?

The community element is very much a big thing to David. He’s approachable, likable, he’ll chat to kids on the way round if he’s doing a lap of honour at the end of the game, he’ll go over and take a few pictures - David doesn’t shy away from that. He’s happy to chat to fans, chat to media, going round talking to supporters. He’ll very much fit in at Huddersfield Town, you’ll all very much like him and take him under your wing. We had a great time watching him and chatting with him and we wish him all the best.
