Connor Mahoney told HTTV he ‘can’t wait to get going’ at Huddersfield Town.
The 25-year-old has agreed a two-year contract that runs until the summer of 2024, with the Club holding the option of a further year’s extension.
Sitting down with HTTV for his first interview, he discussed learning about Town’s interest.
“I learnt about it probably a few weeks ago, but obviously it takes a bit of time to get everything sorted and stuff like that. Obviously now I’m happy to be here and I can’t wait to get going.
“You just have to look at last season and where they finished - the Play-Off Final.
“Obviously, it didn’t go Huddersfield’s way, but I think this season you want to kick on again and try and get one better.
“The main thing for me is to come here and to play and hopefully we can kick on together.”
For Town fans who haven’t seen Mahoney in action, he aims to get you off your seats!
“Young, exciting, hopefully when I get on the ball I can create, get fans off their seats.
“My job is to create and score goals, and that’s what I’ll be looking to do, so hopefully they’ll be excited to hopefully see me in the shirt.”
The attacking midfielder arrives in HD2 with over a century of Sky Bet Championship appearances under his belt, and believes Town are the Club to help further his development.
“I think I’ve got a lot of experience under my belt, but I’ve still got a lot to prove.
“Personally, for me, I want to get as high as I can, but there’s still a lot of room for improvement, and that’s when I chose Huddersfield. I think this Club will get the best out of me.
“You’ve got to buy into the Club. Training’s going to be difficult physically and mentally, but I think that’s what you need.
“I think the Head Coach has shown that he gets the best out of players.
“He’s got players from non-league coming right up, obviously Sorba Thomas is playing for Wales, and I think he [Carlos] has proven he gets the best out of players, and that’s what I need at this moment in my career.”
