Huddersfield Town’s B Team saw out an emphatic 8-1 victory over Salford City at Canalside on Wednesday afternoon.

The dominant side throughout, the game saw Pat Jones, Danny Grant, and Sam Peplow all pick up further important minutes as they continue their returns from injury.

The game got off to a flying start, with Town taking the lead within 90 seconds. Jones latched onto a cross from Grant, before slipping it past Salford’s ‘keeper.

Grant then switched from provider to scorer just minutes later, weaving his way through Salford’s defence and beating their ‘keeper to double the lead!

The 14th minute saw a very unfortunate own goal pull one back for the visitors.

Two further chances came for Town, but Salford worked well to deny the Young Terriers. First, their ‘keeper denied Ben Jackson’s free-kick, before one of their defenders did incredibly well to block Jaheim Headley just as he went to take a strike.

Jones bagged his brace in the 28th minute! He finished off an excellent run up the pitch by beating their ‘keeper!

As if that wasn’t enough, six minutes later he made it a hat-trick with yet another impressive run!

As the minutes continued to count down to half-time, Grant came incredibly close to bagging his brace on two occasions! The first saw Salford’s ‘keeper do well to get low, whilst the second sent him into the splits to deny him at the far post!

Just before the referee blew his whistle, Jones tried his luck at bagging his fourth, but saw his strike go agonisingly wide!

The second half picked up where the first half had left off, with Micah Obiero getting himself on the scoresheet in the 50th minute. A scramble of legs and shots in front of goal, ended with Obiero sending the ball home.

The Young Terriers were handed a penalty in the 54th minute following a tackle on Headley, but unfortunately Jackson’s strike was saved.

Town weren’t going to let the second half lack goals, as Brodie Spencer added a sixth just moments later! He reached highest to latch onto a Ben Midgley corner and send it into the back of the net.

The game then settled for a period, with the Young Terriers still being predominantly on top.

Town’s seventh goal came in the 85th minute as Obiero bagged his brace! Salford's 'keeper made an excellent initial save to deny second half subsistute Myles Bright, but Obiero was on hand to hit home the rebound!

A penalty for Town came just moments later, following a nasty tackle on Obiero. Midgley stepped up to take it, and made no mistake from the spot!

The referee blew his full-time whistle, seeing the Young Terriers walk away with their heads held high following a dominant performance.
