Huddersfield Town continue their Sky Bet Championship campaign on Wednesday 2 February 2022 when they welcome Derby County to the John Smith’s Stadium; 7:45pm kick-off.

Town come into the game off the back of a 1-1 draw with Stoke City, extending their unbeaten run to 10 in all competitions.

Having lost 2-1 away to Nottingham Forest on Saturday 22 January 2022, Derby County play against Birmingham City on Sunday 30 January 2022.

THE OPPOSITION

Derby County currently occupy the 23rd spot in the Championship, eight points from safety following a turbulent 12 months off the field in which they were deducted 21 points.

Despite their troubles, on the field they have been a match for any side in the Championship, with the Rams winning as many games as they have lost so far this season.

Managed by Wayne Rooney, Derby have one of the best defensive records in the Championship, which highlights just how well they have played.

Both sides will be looking to go one better against the other at the John Smith’s Stadium on Wednesday evening, following a 1-1 draw in the reverse fixture in August 2021.

ONES TO WATCH

Ryan Allsop

Having claimed his place in the starting lineup from Kelle Roos, Allsop has kept six clean sheets in his 13 Championship appearances. Following three successful seasons at Wycombe Wanderers, Allsop was signed by manager Wayne Rooney in 2021 to challenge for the starting spot. His performances in between the sticks has helped Derby to have one of the best defensive records in the Championship, with the defence improving since he came into the side.

Curtis Davies

The veteran centre back is enjoying one of his best seasons in a Derby County shirt since he joined the club in 2017. Having formed a defensive partnership with recently departed Rams defender Phil Jagielka, Davies is a part of one of the toughest Championship defensive lines, and will be looking to continue that form. His influence on the team stretches further than just his defensive work, with the 36-year-old scoring four times this season in 27 appearances.

Jason Knight

Having come through the Academy at Derby County, Knight has become a permanent part of Wayne Rooney’s starting XI during the 2021/22 season. Knight’s versatility has been important for the Rams, with the 20-year-old starting games in the middle of the park, as well as on the wing. The Republic of Ireland international has scored twice this season and collected two assists so far.
