B Team midfielders Josh Austerfield and Brahima Diarra have today joined Sky Bet League 2 side Harrogate Town on loan until 31 May 2022!

The talented duo, who have both made their senior debuts for the Terriers, will join up with Simon Weaver’s squad ahead of their Papa John's Trophy game against Carlisle United at their Envirovent Stadium tonight.

Academy graduate Austerfield, 20, made his senior Town debut as a substitute in the Carabao Cup tie against Rochdale in September 2020, and made his first start in the Emirates FA Cup game at home to Plymouth Argyle in January 2021.

The central midfielder, who has largely played in the middle of a back three for the B Team this season, has had previous loans in non-league with Brighouse Town and Hyde United.

Diarra, 18, hails from Paris and joined the Town Academy in July 2019. The attack-minded midfielder made his Sky Bet Championship debut in December 2020, coming off the bench at AFC Bournemouth, and also played as a substitute in the Emirates FA Cup game against Plymouth in January 2021.

The Frenchman has scored seven goals in 19 games for the B Team so far this season.

Harrogate have secured 30 points from 22 games so far this season and sit just five points outside the Play-Offs.

Town’s Head of Football Operations Leigh Bromby commented:

“This is a fantastic opportunity for Josh and Brahima.

“Harrogate Town are a good team with a lot to play for in the second half of the Sky Bet League 2 season, which is a great environment for both players to enter. They’ve also been very keen on bringing both players into their squad, which is really encouraging.

“Josh and Brahima are different players, but we have high hopes that both can become players for our First Team. This is a great challenge for them both at this stage of their careers, and I hope to see them both thrive for their loan side.”
