Having gone ahead in the first-half through Josh Koroma, it was a point each at the John Smith’s Stadium on Friday 28 January after Jacob Brown’s second-half effort drew the sides level.

Having gone unbeaten throughout January 2022 and not tasted defeat in 10 games, Town started the brighter side and got a deserved lead after Josh Koroma’s right footed effort caught a deflection and looped over Bonham in the Stoke goal.

Pressing forward, Town weren’t able to make their pressure count and score a second before the break, despite creating a number of half chances through a combination of great play on the wing and excellent centre forward play from Danny Ward.

Introducing more balance in midfield with Joe Allen at half-time, Stoke were a changed side after the break and grew in to the contest, with attacking changes eventually telling with substitute Jacob Brown’s excellent strike drawing them level moments after Lee Nicholls’ post had been rattled.

With another Sky Bet Championship game under the lights at the John Smith’s Stadium on Wednesday 2 February against Derby Country, it’s a short turnaround for Town who have had this league fixture moved forward to accommodate for the FA Cup Fourth Round clash against Barnsley in a week’s time.
