GIO BELLAGAMBI SIGNS CONTRACT EXTENSION UNTIL 2024!

26 January 2022

B Team goalkeeper has put pen-to-paper on a new deal with Town until 2024

- Gio Bellagambi signed until 2024
- Huddersfield Town hold option for additional year
- Comments from Head of Goalkeeping Paul Clements

Town B Team goalkeeper Giosue ‘Gio’ Bellagambi has committed to the Club until 2024!

Having joined the Club in 2018/19 from Lambeth Tigers, the Croydon born ‘keeper has progressed through the Academy from Under 17 level to the Town B Team.

Improving with each season at Town, this new deal is a reflection of his ongoing progression, having only come into an Academy set-up for the first time when joining the Club.

An attendee of goalkeeping camps with both England and Italy since making the move to Town, he is also eligible to represent Uganda internationally.

With an appearance on the First Team bench to his name – without yet registering his first minutes - Gio is held in high regard at the Club, with this new contract allowing the 20-year-old more time to continue his progression.

His new contract will keep him at Town until at least 2024, with the Club holding an option for an additional year.

Town Head of Goalkeeping Paul Clements commented:

“Gio was very new to professional coaching when we first brought him to the Club, having never been in an Academy before – but he has progressed so much in his time with Town so far that we saw no other choice but to allow him more time to grow.

“He suits the way we play and is very good with his feet. A regular trainer with the First Team, he never looks out of place and conducts himself well around the group. We have trusted him on the bench for a competitive fixture before, which shows the belief we have in him.

“As all young goalkeepers do, he is now in need of match experience. A big personality, he’s been quite unlucky in recent seasons with injury at unfortunate times and Covid cutting some of his loan experiences short, but whenever he’s stepped on the field for Town he’s done really well.”
