Jacob Chapman has today been recalled from his loan at Gateshead as Nicholas Bilokapic heads out for experience.

Chapman, 21, has been the number one for the Vanarama National League North side, starting 31 games in all competitions in a hugely successful loan spell.

He now returns to the John Smith’s Stadium for the second half of the season to work alongside Lee Nicholls and recent recruit Jamal Blackman whilst Ryan Schofield recovers from injury.

That has allowed 19-year-old Nicholas Bilokapic, who made his Town debut in the Emirates FA Cup win at Burnley last month, to head to Sky Bet League 2 side Hartlepool United for the remainder of the season.

Town’s Head of Goalkeeping Paul Clements explained:

“’Chappers’ has had a fantastic experience with Gateshead, playing every single week in a good division and helping them to the top of the league. I’d like to thank them for how they have looked after him, and I wish them all the best for the rest of the season.

“It’s now important that Jacob returns to us, as it allows Nick to go out on an important loan for his development.

“Hartlepool will be Nick’s first senior loan. He did fantastically well on debut for us at Burnley, and now it will be great to assess how he handles senior football and challenging for a starting spot.

“Along with Jamal Blackman’s arrival, it’s been a really positive day for the goalkeeping department.”

Jacob will take the vacant number 13 shirt upon his return to Town.
